After training in Karate and Tae Kwon Do, Wil began training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2000 and joined the Roots team in 2002.
He was awarded his black belt by Professor Paulo Guimaraes in 2007.
Under Paulo's leadership he has won multiple state, national and pan-pacific medals. During this time Wil has cross-trained in wrestling, judo, boxing and kick-boxing and has a winning record in mixed martial arts bouts and cage fights. He has also been a training partner for many of the ROOTS team's BJJ and MMA champions.
Wil's passion for Jiu Jitsu has lead him to begin teaching classes at ROOTS North Sydney. These classes focus primarily on the technical superiority that makes BJJ the most effective self-defence system in the world. However, the format of the classes also promotes optimum fitness, increased confidence and a close family environment. Individuals of any age, fitness level and training background are welcome.
