Five Dock Leisure Centre

The Roots team was well represented at the recent Events BJJ competition, winning medals in every belt category.

In the Brown belt category, Bondi Instructor Daniel Sainty was victorious in both his weight division and the absolute division while Dave Brooksbank who took out Gold in the Purple belt category.

Mun Su Park and Joe Worthington both won Silver medals in their respective blue belt weight divisions, narrowly missing out on victory in the finals due to some unlucky referee decisions.

The White belts were well represented on the day, with Laura Ng winning Silver in the female absolute division. Steve Gallagher and Andrew von … fought consistently in large divisions and were unlucky not to make the finals.

The kids team also did well, with 10 year-old Alex winning his division by submission.

A special mention goes to Ken and Samantha Khavin who both competed in their first competition. They followed their game plans perfectly and gained some valuable competition experience.

Thanks to the coaches and competitors for their efforts, and all of Roots family that came to support the fighters on the day.
