I made Martial Arts my life goal when I began learning Taekwondo in high school in 1987.
Also, I began to learn Muay Thai in 1993 and have been an athlete for approximately ten years.
I have traveled around Thailand, Japan, and Cambodia, competing in many Muay Thai competitions.
I came into contact with Brazilian Jiu-jitsu when I was a Muay Thai instructor at the Mixed Martial Arts Dojo of Korea, teaching Mixed Martial Arts and Muay Thai in 2003.
Brazilian Jiu-jitsu became known in Korea in 2002 when Mixed Martial Arts competitions were experiencing a boom.
I liked the rational fighting style of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and decided to seriously learn it and since Brazilian Jiu-jitsu had already spread in Korea, I was able to learn from a Korean instructor with a purple belt.
A passion to learn Brazilian Jiu-jitsu became stronger as I learned more and while I was looking for a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Master on the internet, I came to know professor Paulo in Australia, not too far from Korea.
In 2005, I went to Australia to learn Jiu-jitsu from Professor Paulo. I was able to learn truly traditional Brazilian Jiu-jitsu at the ROOTS Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Academy on Bondi Beach in NSW state of Australia.
At first, after receiving training in Australia, I became completely captivated by the Brazilian style of ROOTS and I stayed in Australia for a year learning Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. That time gave me the best days of my life.
Now I have returned to Korea and have opened an academy, teaching both Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.
I want the students who learn Martial Arts from me not to stop at just learning Martial Arts, but through it, to learn patience, consideration for others, and great joy that could not be found in ordinary life.
